News Release: Garrett County Affordable Housing Forum Scheduled for May 1 in the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College

Garrett County Board of REALTORS is pleased to present the 2nd annual Affordable Housing Forum on May 1, 2025. The event will feature panelists to speak on topics such as the Grantsville Attainable Housing Project, utilizing properties as long term rentals, and down payment assistance programs. This event is open to the public and free to attend, but registration is required as spots are limited. Lunch will be provided prior to the forum starting.

As affordable housing is a concern for the entire community, our panelists will offer insight that is valuable for community members looking for information, those looking for ways to contribute or invest, and those looking to purchase a home in the near future. Providing updates for the Grantsville Attainable Housing project will be County Commissioner Paul Edwards, Bill Meagher, and Liz Georg. Offering insight into current down payment assistance programs and other programs offered through Community Action will be panelist Chris Mullett. New this year will be two panelists addressing long term rentals. Nina Beitzel will be covering her experience purchasing investment properties and offering them as long-term rentals in the community. Paul Macy, formerly head of GarrettLand’s long term rental division, will discuss how subsidized rentals work through their programs.

The event will be held in the multi-purpose room at the Performing Arts Center on the Garrett College Campus. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on Facebook through Garrett County Board of REALTOR’s Facebook page. Questions asked during the live stream will be presented to panelists. You can register online at https://members.gcbr.org/ap/Events/Register/G9FjbjdUNCxCK
